year 5 and 6 hockey tournament

On Wednesday 2nd November 2016, Longparish School’s Year 5 and 6 hockey team drove to John Hanson Secondary School in Andover to take part in a hockey tournament. The members of the team were Mathew, Jake, George, Charlotte, Asha, Isabel, Rosie, Joe, Megan Beal, Megan Lowe, Wilf and Toby; Mrs Brewer was our coach.  The things we had to bring were: gum sheild, water bottle, hockey stick and shin pads. There were assistant referees (members of John Hanson School)  helping the P.E. teachers to referee the competition. 

Our team played brilliantly and put into practice the skills we had learned in hockey club. Our defence was superb and we stopped many teams from scoring. Longparish had never entered a hockey competition before, so it was a new experience. We hope to build on our acquired skills in the future. 
Although we came fifth, we all still loved the tournament. The overall winners were Amport, who won by one point - they won the trophy and received a medal each.
