DISCIPLINE

We aim to help children to value courtesy and good manners and adopt a caring attitude towards others. Emphasis is placed on self-discipline and responsibility for one’s own actions.

The children are aware that certain rules are made for the safety of the School Community and each individual within it, e.g. ‘We walk in school as it is not safe to run about. Only use scissors under supervision’. They also know the standard of behaviour expected both in the classroom and in the playground and those areas of the school premises in which they are allowed to go.

If these rules are broken, children know the matter will be discussed with a teacher and loss of playtime or certain restrictions may be imposed, including exclusion from arranged off-site activities or residential visits. Whatever action is felt to be necessary, it is designed to be of a constructive nature.
